Sheffield Elementary School

Welcome to the brand new Internet home of Sheffield Elementary School! We are located in the town of Montague, Massachusetts, one of many in New England that takes pride in its rich colonial and industrial history. With diverse landscapes featuring historical mills, rich farmland, and the residential villages of Montague, we feel lucky to be part of the Gill-Montague School District.

Our school serves a student body of elementary students in grades 2 – 5. We are a Title I school, and our enthusiastic teachers and administrators are dedicated to providing the very best educational experiences for our young students.

We’ve designed our new website to be a convenient resource for the involved parents, students, teachers, and community members of Sheffield Elementary School. We invite you to explore the pages of our online home to learn more about our school, as well as the exciting news and upcoming events that keep our students busy and striving for excellence.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Sheffield Families,

  • A huge thank you for all the families that contributed to our food drive! We appreciate your generosity!
  • I reminded families last week that on two-hour delays we will not be serving breakfast, but forgot to mention that when the snow finally does fly in order for students to be playing in the snow the must have; snow pants, snow boots, and a coat on. If they are missing snow pants or snow boots, they will be required to stay on the black top.
  • Please send in shoes with your child, so he/she is not walking around in heavy snow boots during the day.
  • Please consider putting your child's name on his/her winter clothes.
  • The nurse is in need of gently used sweatpants of various sizes
  • If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, there is no parking on the Montague Street side of the school. We have cones blocking the parking spaces. We almost had a family hit by a car that was pulling away from the curb. For student and family safety, we're asking for understanding and cooperation with this expectation.
  • Monday, December 18 there is a school council meeting in Mrs. Pitrat's office from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 21 is a banking day with Greenfield Savings bank
  • Mark your calendars for an all school meeting from 2:15-2:45 p.m. on Friday, December 22.

With Sheffield Pride,

Melissa Pitrat
