Sheffield Elementary School

Welcome to the brand new Internet home of Sheffield Elementary School! We are located in the town of Montague, Massachusetts, one of many in New England that takes pride in its rich colonial and industrial history. With diverse landscapes featuring historical mills, rich farmland, and the residential villages of Montague, we feel lucky to be part of the Gill-Montague School District.

Our school serves a student body of elementary students in grades 2 – 5. We are a Title I school, and our enthusiastic teachers and administrators are dedicated to providing the very best educational experiences for our young students.

We’ve designed our new website to be a convenient resource for the involved parents, students, teachers, and community members of Sheffield Elementary School. We invite you to explore the pages of our online home to learn more about our school, as well as the exciting news and upcoming events that keep our students busy and striving for excellence.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Sheffield Families,

We are filling our final days of school with many events and activities! Make sure to be in the know by reading through the following information.

  • If you have a fifth grade student, ask them about their middle school visit.
  • Next week, June 11–June 15, is our last full week of school!
  • Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12, there will be a representative from the Carnegie Library coming to each grade’s library time to talk about their summer reading program. Avoid the summer slide by encouraging your child to read over the summer every day.
  • Sheffield will be having field day at Camp Kewanee again this year thanks your fundraising efforts and our Friends of Sheffield! Wednesday, June 13, our 4th and 5th grade students will attend. Friday, June 15, our 2nd and 3rd grade students will attend. There is a permission slip going home for you to indicate your child’s swimming ability. Children will wear a colored bracelet indicating which pool and how deep they can be during the swimming section. Please make sure your child returns this to school.
  • This year in lieu of a step up day for 5th grade, we are having a school-wide, all-school sing celebration. It will take place on Wednesday, June 20 starting at 9:00 a.m. We will honor all our volunteers, June, July, and August birthdays, and our chorus will perform. This is open to all families. We will conclude with the traditional clap out for our fifth graders and immediately following, there will be a reception in the cafeteria for fifth graders and their families. We anticipate this going longer than our traditional sings.
  • The final three days of school, June 20, 21, and 22, are all half days with a noon dismissal. We will provide bag lunches on those half days.
  • The last day of school is Friday, June 22 at 12:00 p.m.

With Sheffield Pride,

Melissa Pitrat
